Bailey Zimmerman 'Religiously. The Album.' Review

Bailey Zimmerman is among the fastest-growing artists in the world. Zimmerman has torn through social media and the country music scene with vigor. The 23-year-old sensation has recently climbed the rankings, becoming one of the most prominent figures in country radio. Fans may know him from hits like “Rock and a Hard Place” and “Fall In Love.” Zimmerman released his latest studio album, Religiously. The Album. on Friday, May 12th, 2023. Following the release of his single by the same name earlier this year, the midwestern native dropped 16 tracks, each one of them better than the last.

The first new song on the track list, and the second track on the album, is possibly the

most impressive. “Warzone” is an extremely well-produced, well-written, and well-performed piece of country music. It’s not every day that a song is an instant classic and added to the country music canon; however, “Warzone” is sure to set itself in stone with its undeniable, great quality. Zimmerman belts, “When you’re living in a warzone / With a heart full of bullet holes and boarded up windows / We been ridin’ out this storm for way too long / How we gonna call this house a home / Livin’ in a warzone.”

The singer slows things down a little with the fifth entry, “Chase Her.” The up-and-coming superstar is not afraid to spill his heart into a microphone. “Chase Her” details the relatable feeling of wishing you had done more to keep the one who got away from getting away in the first place. This track shows off Zimmerman's ability to dig deep in both his singing and writing. He sings, “If I would’ve chased her / Would’ve just tried / Wouldn’t have felt the sting of a goodbye / If I would've set aside a little more time and a lot more pride / Would you still be mine?”

“The Other Side of Lettin’ Go,” tells the story of hearts breaking uneven, and just how terrible it feels to be the one in pain. Zimmerman’s raw, raspy voice provides a stark contrast to the sentimental and soft lyrics. This juxtaposition gives the tune depth and only adds to the emotional undertones of the track. Zimmerman exclaims, “She’s stuck in Colorado while I'm strung out missing her / I bet she's out somewhere with the wind in her hair while I'm stuck here where we were / I see the taillights of that bronco every time I close my eyes / But I can't sleep cause I’m hung up on goodbye / She's on the run chasin' the sun and I'm alone / Stuck on the other side of lettin’ go”

Zimmerman brings it all home with the 16th and final track, “Is This Really Over?”

He transcends his typical country rock style with this more melodic, traditional country song. With simple, acoustic production, and a catchy melody that will cause listeners to bop their heads along with the beat, Zimmerman gives listeners the feel of a live performance. “Is This Really Over?” is a refreshing break from the highly produced country rock that dominates the radio today.

The 23- year old's much-anticipated release certainly does not disappoint. With expectations

set high and pressure building under the weight of his young career, Bailey Zimmerman proves himself worthy of this newfound success by giving listeners and fans of country music a beautifully made album that is sure to be on every radio in the nation. As Zimmerman’s life

continues to change at light speed, his musical talent evolves with him.
