Bobby Pinson Chats About Songwriting and Upcoming Projects

Bobby Pinson is a singer-songwriter in a league of his own. Having been in this industry for well over 20 years, he has amassed experience in a variety of ways. With the release of his new song "The Shave," Pinson discussed his story and the new music he has been working on.

Pinson hails from the panhandle of Texas. He grew up singing at church and learning to play the guitar. "Grandpa put a big dream inside a little boy," he shares, pointing to his grandfather's influence. Once he was serving in the army, he would occasionally play shows for his fellow service members. When the hearing was hard to do during soundcheck, Pinson would start making up his own lyrics to songs. By the end of the '90s, he was in Nashville getting signed to his first deal.

The importance of songwriting cannot be understated for Pinson. He was known initially around music city as a songwriter before releasing his own material. His debut record arrived in 2005 and spawned the hit song "Don't Ask Me How I Know." Since then, Pinson put his pen to paper for several artists. He has writing credits with such stars as Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, Sugarland, LeAnn Rimes, and Jake Owen. "I always wrote songs as an artist even when I wasn't the one singing them," Pinson told The Nash News. He went on to add, "I never cared about being famous. As a songwriter, you provide your own pain for someone else's picture."

His new single "The Shave" is an ode to all of the sons who have fond memories with their dads. "It wrote itself. It fell from God and I caught it," says Pinson. This song will be featured on his new EP set to arrive in October. The EP will be the first installment of a six EP plan that Pinson has in store for fans. The singer will also be on the road this fall with Aaron Lewis, another artist he has written with in the past.
