Bryan Ruby on the Beginning His Career and "Christmas With You"

Bryan Ruby is an artist who is pushed by his passions. Being a professional baseball player and a country singer-songwriter, Ruby understands the importance of pursuing one's dreams. With the holiday season in full swing, Ruby discussed his new Christmas song and how he intends to make a name for himself.

Ruby grew up in a family that valued athletics. While he too had a love for sports, music was always there for him. "If I had a bad game, I always had my guitar," shares Ruby. He went on to say, "Country music was always playing at the ball field, and I was always a fan of country radio. I called my local radio station for a job when i was in high school, and that's where is learned that songwriting was a real job."

In September of 2021, Ruby became the only active professional baseball player to come out as gay. His story was featured in USA Today as well as media outlets around the world including CBS, Yahoo, Bleacher Report and Teen Vogue. In June of this year, Ruby released his debut single "Left Field." He exclaims, "'Left Field'” is a song about baseball that's not at all about baseball. It's about the twists and turns that come with life. Some of the best things in my life I would've never predicted. This song was a good place for me to start." He soon followed that up with the track, "The Standouts."

"Christmas With You" is the first Christmas song released by Ruby. "For the last 4 years, for my email list, I always send out a Christmas song. When I was getting ready to put that song together, I was reminded, ‘Hey I'm an artist, I can put it out.‘ I only release stuff I really believe in, and this one is special to me," he notes. Being an artist means spending plenty of time out on the road. Ruby explains that this is the one time of year when he can spend time with his loved ones, which is why Christmas means so much to him.

When asked about the impact he aims to make, the singer plans to continue writing and releasing music in hopes of getting a publishing deal. He also aims to be a role model for people in his industries that are looking for relatability stating, "I grew up not being able to see anyone like me in baseball. I didn't have a hero. In country music we've had a lot of trailblazers, so what I wanna be is somebody who is out and proud from the start."
