Chris Young and Old Dominion have teamed up for their new song “Everybody Needs A Song.” This release comes on the heels of Young announcing the deluxe edition of his album Famous Friends will be available on June 3rd.
Young has been riding high off of the success from his most recent LP. Famous Friends won fans and critics alike when it was released last year. It even earned an ACM nomination for Album of the Year. The title track with Kane Brown became another No.1 song for the hitmaker. His signature deep and unwavering vocals are behind songs like “Tomorrow,” “Think of You,” "Lonely Eyes,” and “Aw Naw.” Young’s current single “At The End Of A Bar” featuring Mitchell Tenpenny is charting towards the top following their performance at the ACM Awards last month.
Putting Old Dominion on this track could not have been a better choice. The band has had an equally consistent radio career as Young, and “Everybody Needs A Song” will undoubtedly be a radio favorite in the coming months. Their individual styles blend exceptionally well, especially on an up-tempo track like this one.

“Everybody Needs A Song” has a message that is truly timeless. The lyrics discuss the power of music and how the right song can get you through anything with lines, “Nine-to-fivers need a soundtrack to a cold beer, that’s why dive bars have a band, lake siders need a six-string with a beach vibe, while they’re soaking up a summer tan, heartbreaks need a melody, and prom night needs a dance.” The lyrics make you realize that music is all around us no matter the occasion. The chorus drives that home when Young and Matt Ramsey sing together, “At the end of the day, man, everybody needs a song.”
