Cody Johnson “God Bless The Boy (Cori’s Song)” & “Stronger” Review
Cody Johnson gave fans a double song release on Friday, July 9. The platinum-selling recording artist released “God Bless The Boy (Cori’s Song)” and “Stronger” from his forthcoming double album. Whether he releases songs about love or a night out, Johnson delivers authenticity to everything he touches.
The Texas native has had quite a busy summer, as he released “Sad Songs and Waltzes” in May. In June, he released “Till You Can’t” and “Longer Than She Did.” Johnson will continue to release two new singles each month until his highly anticipated album drops this fall.
Leave it to Johnson to release an emotional song like “God Bless The Boy (Cori’s Song).” Written in mind for his daughter, the lyrics are talking to the boy who will one day love his daughter. “God bless the boy that melts the way I do, when she smiles at him the first time he’ll be done, oh, he’ll be through.” This song is a definite contender for those father/daughter dances at weddings this upcoming year.
“Stronger” is about a tough guy admitting the woman he loves is stronger than he is. It’s a different perspective than the cowboy and angel comparison found in many country songs. Johnson also shows off his vocal ability that fans have come to love. “When I’m at the end of my rope, and I don’t know if I can hold on, she’s stronger.”
In addition to new releasing music, Cody Johnson will be making his debut on the big screen. Dear Rodeo: The Cody Johnson Story will be in cinemas nationwide starting August 10th.
