Country Songs I Hope Make The Eras Tour Setlist

Taylor Swift’s discography is long and vast. It spans several genres, tells many stories, and features different artists throughout. The pressure I feel making a list of country songs that I want to make the Eras Tour setlist is nothing in comparison to her trying to boil her career into 90 minutes. The songs below are a combination of songs I think she’ll definitely play, and ones that I really hope she does.
1. “I Bet You Think About Me”
“I Bet You Think About Me” is one of Taylor Swift’s newest country songs, but that doesn’t stop it from being one of her best. Honestly, I would say it’s not only my favorite country song of hers, but it might be my favorite she’s ever released. This track is the perfect song to scream on any night of the Eras Tour. It has an amazing music video. It’s one of the (Taylor’s Version) and (From the Vault) tracks from Red (Taylor’s Version), which I think makes it a big contender to be one of the country songs played on the Eras Tour. Swift’s lyrics in this song are also a great example of storytelling. In the second part of the first verse where she writes, "You grew up in a silver-spoon gated community / Glamorous, shiny, bright Beverly Hills / I was raised on a farm, no, it wasn't a mansion / Just livin' room dancin' and kitchen table bills” is just one example of her ability to let the listener experience what she did.
2. “Our Song”
When picking the second song, I had to decide between a couple. Taylor Swift has so many tunes and she can’t play them all. I knew at least one of the country classics was going to have to make the list. “Our Song” was, and still is, one of the biggest hits Swift had off her debut album. Not only would this be a good song to play to get everyone pumped up, it’s also one of the songs that I would be most excited to hear performed live.
3. “Better Man”
I fell in love with this song once I heard her perform it live at The Bluebird Cafe. The more produced version of this song is great, but I honestly would love to hear the stripped down version while she’s on tour. I think it’s the perfect song to have in the slower part of a show, and when it’s just Swift and a guitar, there’s bound to be magic.
4. “Mean”
I am a little biased because Speak Now is my favorite Taylor Swift album. I would happily make the Eras Tour setlist just the Speak Now track list, but sadly I cannot. “Mean” was a huge hit for Swift and it’s still beloved among fans. I think it’s one of the best songs with country vibes on Speak Now, and if she broke out a banjo while on tour, I would go absolutely feral. Well, I would at least want to change into my cowboy boots first.
5. “betty”
In terms of this song, I would probably want to see the mash-up she did at the Grammys, where she includes the tracks “august” and “cardigan” to complete the trilogy of tunes. I know “betty” isn’t the most country song she has, but I think it counts. It is especially country in comparison to other songs on folklore. Like most songs on this album, Swift proved time and time again that her storytelling and lyric writing is some of the best in the game. It really allows listeners to understand the story for characters in a song that aren’t even real. It’s also one of her newest songs, which gives it a leg up in the chance it’ll get performed.
6. “Tim McGraw”
This is the last country song I’m desperate to see live is also from her debut album, Taylor Swift. I didn’t appreciate this song much when I was younger, but partially because of age –and partially because of Maggie Rogers’ cover –“Tim McGraw” has become one of my favorites off the album. The song is simple and timeless, but the lyrics are so romantic and specific. Lines like, “He said the way my blue eyes shined / Put those Georgia stars to shame that night” really create moments of pure happiness throughout the whole tune, and I’d love to experience that in person.
