There are plenty of musicians that showcase other talents by performing in film, TV, and theater. We are highlighting 10 country artists that have been in movies.
1. Jason Aldean
In 2013, Aldean costarred in the western thriller Sweetwater, playing the role of Daniel.
2. Carrie Underwood
After winning the fourth season of American Idol, Underwood’s entertainment career skyrocketed. Her role of Sarah Hill in the 2011 film Soul Surfer initiated her acting career.
3. George Strait
Strait played the lead role of Wyatt “Dusty” Chandler in the 1992 film Pure Country, a music-filled drama that has since had two sequels.
4. Jana Kramer
Kramer’s filmography includes Heart of Country (2013), Country Crush (2016), and multiple Lifetime movies.
5. Dwight Yoakam
Some of Yoakam’s most famous movies include Sling Blade (1996), The Newton Boys (1998), and Panic Room (2002).
6. Taylor Swift
This multi-Grammy award-winning artist has appeared in Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), Valentine’s Day (2010), and did her first work as a voice actor in the animated film The Lorax (2012).
7. Billy Ray Cyrus
Some of Cyrus’s notable movies include Radical Jack (2000), Mullholland Drive (2001), and Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009).
8. Dolly Parton
In addition to the infamous Nine to Five (1980), Parton has acted in films such as The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), Steel Magnolias (1989), and Straight Talk (1992).
9. Toby Keith
Keith starred in Broken Bridges (2006) and Beer for My Horses (2008).
10. Kris Kristofferson
Of all the country artists on this list, Kristofferson has appeared in the most amount of films. The Last Movie (1971), A Star Is Born (1976), and the Blade trilogy are only a few of his noticeable appearances.
