Dylan Scott “Can’t Have Mine” Song Review
Dylan Scott released a new song titled “Can’t Have Mine” on Friday, February 18th. Scott decided to release the song following its viral success on TikTok, and it’s safe to say we can’t thank that app enough. The acoustic ballad dropped just in time following Valentine’s Day earlier this week.
Scott has had a whirlwind of a career with No. 1 songs and he’s also joined tours with superstars like Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. The Louisiana native has seemingly captured the perfect mixture of a contemporary artist who derives much of his inspiration from the classic country genre. It’s worth pointing out that his covers of Keith Whitley’s “I’m Over You” and “When You Say Nothing At All” are fan favorites at his concerts.
“Can’t Have Mine” has all the makings of a timeless country love song. As always, Scott’s undeniable vocal ability is captivating from the very first line, “Find you a girl on a Friday night, dancing in the back of a bar.” Without a doubt, it’s made obvious that his high school sweetheart inspired the song. Scott and his wife Blair have been married since 2016 and share two children together.
The love song includes lessons on how to know when you’ve found the one. Scott advises all the young boys out there about what they should be looking for. “It don’t matter where you find her / Just as long as you, find you a girl who leaves you speechless / Gets wild on the town, but still loves Jesus / One who’s worth the wait even when she ain’t on time / Find you a girl that loves her daddy / Talking ‘bout babies makes her happy.”
The chorus ends with a sweet line that nods as an ode to his wife when he sings “You just can’t have mine.”
