Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt Perform on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
Country singer Ingrid Andress took the stage on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert alongside Sam Hunt to perform their latest collaboration, “Wishful Drinking.”
Right away, Andress catches the eye in a dazzling silver one-piece outfit with a matching disco ball hanging behind her; the baby blue backdrop is soft yet emphasizes the late-night performance aesthetic the two were aiming for. Her vocals sound just as good, if not better, than the recording as she sings into a vintage-style, old-timey microphone. During the first chorus when she sings alone, she adds extra sass at the end of the phrases.
Sam Hunt steps out next to Andress during the second verse playing an acoustic guitar. His voice is warm and soft and he throws in a noticeable note change during his designated verse. When the second chorus takes hold, their voices accompany each other beautifully.
The most noticeable part of the performance comes at the very end when Andress belts out the notes instead of holding them on a lower note. She owns the stage with captivating vibrato and a wide vocal range that displays what she’s clearly capable of and she does it was ease.
