Jacob Rice is releasing his debut EP today, and every song is worth the listen. His singles preluding the release have been popular amongst his fans, and this EP will be no exception. The Vermont native is just beginning his country music career having moved to Nashville two years ago, and it’s clear that his passion for music knows no bounds. Each song has a unique blend of country, pop, Motown, and R&B allowing all types of music fans to enjoy this project.
The first song on the EP, “How A Man Treats A Lady,” fulfills the summer vibe and will bring this season to a big finish as fall approaches. The upbeat sound does not detract from the romantic love story that the lyrics describe, “I can’t stop drinking to the time I’ve wasted / Overthinking asking you for your sweet hand.” Right from the get-go, Rice displays his talent in storytelling.
Rice switches up the energy with the third song, “My House,” which serves as the perfect party song. It has a more traditional country vibe, leaving listeners wanting more as he sings, “I swear I never had a pool / But now I’m skinny-dipping with you.” In addition, the featured chorus adds another layer to this already limitlessly fantastic song.

The most acoustic pop sound of his music serves as the ending of the EP on "Me, You & Summertime." It speaks to the rush of love and the loss of it, without the bitterness that can show itself in heartbreak. He speaks of the past relationship fondly, despite everything falling apart: “You and me weren’t meant to be / But I guess I’m still hung up.” Rice’s maturity in not just musical skills, but in life, is demonstrated best in this tune.
His youth does not show in his music, as Rice’s skill is timeless and his talent is astounding for someone so early in their career. As continues building his discography, one can only imagine what could possibly come next.
