July Moon "Someone Like Me" Song Review
After releasing their debut single, "Champagne Plans" earlier this year, rising country trio July Moon has shown no signs of slowing down. The group, made up of Braelyn Watt, Cassidy Daniels, and Piper Bateman Riggins, followed up their debut with the track "You Think You Know Someone" and they're adding to their ever-growing catalog with the new release "Someone Like Me."
"Someone Like Me" was written by the three ladies alongside Liz Rose, who's best known for her work writing early hits with Taylor Swift. From the jump, "Someone Like Me" opens with clear, angelic, and ambient harmonies that envelop the listener and whisk them away; the three-way vocal parts are effortless and create an entertaining listening experience. The instrumental is upbeat in tempo with energetic percussion and happy guitar sounds.
The three sing about finding that special someone who loves them for who they are. The songwriting is filled with metaphors and imagery as they describe their lover as "steady as a rock" and "cool in the calm in the eye of the hurricane," while comparing them to others who are "chameleons who never change." The optimistic message of finding a unique partner is only amplified by their cheerful vocals as they exclaim, "Only someone like you / Can love someone like me / Cause you gotta be wild / To hold something this free."
