Kane Brown “One Mississippi” Song Review
Kane Brown released his new single “One Mississippi” on Friday, August 20. This song is special to Brown because he wrote it with new signee to his publishing company Levon Gray. Gray is a songwriter from Alabama and had tagged Brown in a post about his music. Brown invited Gray to Nashville and that is how “One Mississippi” came to life.
Brown has skyrocketed into fame over the last few years. He’s had seven #1 hits including “Heaven,” “Good As You,” and “What If’s.” The Tennessee native has also collaborated with artists like Khalid, Marsh Mellow, and Sway Lee on numerous hits. Brown has been a driving force in altering the landscape in country music. His genre-bending style is indicative of what he is inspired by, and the more people that discover country music the better.
“One Mississippi” has a slightly more traditional country sound than some of Brown’s most recent work. The guitar riff brings a sense of familiarity while Brown’s rich voice exudes emotion. “This song is about a relationship. I don’t know if everybody’s had where you makeup and break up and you just keep running into each other, and then something about that spark in the relationship gets y’all back together,” said Brown in a press release. Gray came up with the title and the idea behind the track, and he and Brown ran with it. This song aims to do exceedingly well on the radio.
It’s produced with a fresh style that has become a part of Brown’s signature. The chorus picks up the momentum and the beat is sure to get stuck in everyone’s head. “Ain’t nothing but a countdown, one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three shots of whiskey, are you on your way?” If this is a glimpse into Brown’s new music he has on the way, fans will be left wanting more.
