Madeline Consoer 'Little Miss' EP Review

Madeline Consoer has released her first EP, called Little Miss. Previously, she has only released singles, so this EP has been highly anticipated.

Recognizable from The Voice, the song, “Little Miss” is inspired by a real-life experience with someone who reminded Consoer of how two-faced Nashville girls can be in her experience. In this high-energy song, she does not hold back. She starts off with “You’ve been testing my nerves / You’ve been twisting my words like a politician.” According to a press release, the story behind this involves an issue between her and a former friend. Consoer talks about how fed up she is with the number of women who are two-faced and does not shy away from telling the world exactly how she feels. She has a way of storytelling that sucks her audience in, along with a set of powerhouse vocals.

Another track on this EP is “Heaven," which is very relatable for anyone listening. She exclaims “I hate the way that everything’s been changin’ / These days I’m just trying to make it through / Til the next paycheck.” While every song is different, there’s a common theme of boldness that shows through. It’s empowering and easy to want to play it all on repeat. “Drinking To You” is sure to catch the attention of the audience with an immediate upbeat tempo. Her lyrics, “Thought we were over / But that’s just when we’re sober / Cause the second I’m throwing them back / I know that I’m headed right back” rain down with specific pinpoints in time.

Consoer was on Season 19 of The Voice on Team Kelly in 2020. Originally from Eagle River, WI, a local singing competition is actually what piqued her interest in pursuing a music career. She ended up studying exercise science in college but ended up leaving early to dedicate herself to music. Proving her work ethic, she tried out for The Voice several times before making it as far as she did in Season 19. Along with being intelligent and extremely dedicated, her artistic ability is not only expressed through her songwriting and vocals but through fashion as well. She is the whole package.
