Michael Ray’s “Whiskey and Rain” Reaches No. 1 on Country Radio
After months of Michael Ray’s single “Whiskey and Rain” climbing the charts, it has finally number one on country radio.
“Whiskey and Rain” is the lead single off his EP Higher Education and his first new music since his album Amos from 2018. Although the single was originally released in September 2020, the wait made this moment even sweeter.
“Yeah, whiskey and rain coming down, coming down / Splash of bourbon in a glass / Yeah, pouring something on the pain / Let it drown, let it drown / Trying to wash away the past,” Ray croons mournfully on the chorus. “Since my blue sky, sunshine, whole life / Hopped on that midnight train / ‘Til the bottle runs out or the clouds roll away / It’s just the whiskey and rain.”
In an Instagram video, Ray spoke to fans saying, “This was a special one. I love you guys. What a way to start the year.”
“Whiskey and Rain” will join other Michael Ray singles such as, “Kiss You in the Morning,” “Think a Little Less,” and “One That Got Away” which have all previously ranked in the US Country Top 10.
