Morgan Wade "Psychopath" Song Review
Singer-songwriter Morgan Wade is ready for her next musical chapter. Wade not only announced her new single this week, but she also announced her next album of the same title. "Psychopath" is a song that provides a perfect introduction to her new material.
When Wade released her debut album Reckless in 2021, it became evident that the world needed to hear her sheer talent. Rolling Stone named it the Best Country Album of the Year, quite uncommon for a debut. The song "Wilder Days" opened her up to a wider audience and demonstrated her uniqueness. “I have no choice but to be authentic. And I have to feel what I feel. And right now, I’m really feeling the music," said Wade in a press release. No one could accuse Wade of being inauthentic.
"Psychopath" happens to be a solo write for Wade. “When you look at the title, you don’t assume that’s a love song. But it is, I kinda dig that," she noted in the press release. The track is in fact about love in all its complexities. When someone is so enamored with the person they are with, it's hard to see a life without them. Wade sings about how that might not be such a bad thing.
There is an acoustic feel to the song that is masterfully produced. The melody is easy to get carried away in, and Wade guides through it all seamlessly. "I love you just because / Saying I love you don't feel like enough / One day I'll turn to dust / Was there life before there was us?" Wade captures a moment in time where the amount of love one feels is all-consuming. If this is a taste of what's to come from the album on August 25th, fans won't be left disappointed.
