Morgan Wallen Feat. Lil Durk “Broadway Girls” Song Review
He’s back. Morgan Wallen is riding high on his recent tour announcement, 53 cities, selling out most of the stops within minutes. His double album Dangerous is one of the most consumed of 2021 racking up streams and sales across the country.
Throughout the past year, although he took some time off of social media and out of the spotlight – Wallen would randomly post unreleased music that he had just written or wanted to share. One of those songs, “Broadway Girls” caught the attention of fans immediately, and now the full-length, studio version is available.
The track features American rapper and singer Lil Durk who released his debut studio album back in 2015. “Broadway Girls” is a perfect collaboration, telling the tale of the type of shallow love found only under the neon lights. For fans of country music, they know that Broadway refers to the iconic block in Nashville, that showcases bar after bar and on a nightly basis is filled with tourists. The story, sonically laid over primarily a hip-hop production blends Wallen’s country twang with Lil Durk’s prolific rapping to create something cutting-edge.
“There’s two things that you’re gonna find out, they don’t love you and they only love you right now, if I was smarter I woulda stayed my ass at home and leave em Broadway girls alone”
Although collaborations in the country space are not new, it helps to continue to expand the fan base and open up new listeners who may not have previously stopped to hear a Morgan Wallen track.
