Morgan Wallen “You Proof” Song Review

Morgan Wallen has released yet another stellar track with “You Proof.” After teasing the song on social media many months ago, the superstar finally gave fans what they were waiting for.

Wallen seems to never have a shortage of tricks up his sleeve. “You Proof” is the latest release following two new songs released within the last month. “Don’t Think Jesus” and “Thought You Should Know” are two reflective tracks that showcased all of Wallen’s abilities: vulnerability, truth, and phenomenal songwriting. His sonic style and close relationship with his fans have made him one of country music’s most popular artists. With the record-breaking success of the sophomore album Dangerous: The Double Album, only time will tell when the third album’s release will be.

“You Proof” is slightly different than the two previous songs Wallen has released. It has a base tracking that resembles that of hip-hop. That particular beat has become popular among several country singers lately. It gives the song the party-vibe Wallen wanted to go for. The song went viral prior to its release for a reason; it has a contemporary sound with Wallen-like lyrics people have come to enjoy.

The song is about not being able to get over someone no matter how much is bought at the bar. “Yeah I've been throwing down the whiskey, I oughtta get my money back, someone said it drowns the memory, aw but it ain’t doing jack.” The message seems familiar to other songs in Wallen’s catalog, yet the sound is what makes this one stand out. The chorus hits with the catchy “I need something you proof, something stronger than I’m used to.” With Wallen currently on his successful Dangerous Tour, this one will surely be added to the setlist.
