Rakiyah Marshall discusses growing up in New York, finding her passion for working in music, and ultimately starting her own company that would take a different and unique, approach to support artists and songwriters in Nashville.

Growing up in the same town as Christina, they both share a found passion for country music without a radio station to rely on. They discuss the love for the genre that they see in New York fans, her move to Nashville and working in publishing through Cornman Music, BMG, and eventually opening her own company Back Blocks. She also talks about the success she’s seen by taking new and inventive ways to support rising talent as an artist development company and publisher.
