On The Verge: 4 New Country Releases
As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.
1. Mackenzie Carpenter by Mackenzie Carpenter
Carpenter has released her debut EP, which offers hooks, charm, and effortless vocals. An artist who is proud to be a singer-songwriter, she writes what fans her age want to hear. There is also a sense of joy that comes from listening to her music. The EP includes previously released tracks "Jesus, I'm Jealous," "Don't Mess With Exes," and "Can't Nobody." Carpenter also released a short film to accompany the project.
2. "What Color Is Happy?" by Rob Snyder and Ashland Craft
A collaboration between two exciting newcomers is welcomed in today's music. Snyder and Craft an acoustic, introspective ballad. They ask one of life's biggest questions, what makes people happy? They sing about the things that might make a person feel fulfilled. This song showcases the artistry of both singers in a brilliant way.
3. "Shirley Temple" by Lauren Watkins
Watkins is fresh off of signing a recording contract with Big Loud, and is ready for fans to hear the music she has been working on. This particular song makes a statement about jealousy. Watkins compares the other woman to being sweet as the popular drink the song is named for. Co-written by acclaimed songwriter Nicolle Galyon, it's highly relatable about wanting someone that seems happy with someone else.
4. "Pray All The Home" by Austin Snell
Snell delivered a new song that has the ability to speak to the masses. He sings about the relationship he has with God, even with all of the bumps he faces along the way. Snell remains honest about mistakes he has made. There is a melody that entices the listener just as much as the lyrics do. He has a promising career ahead of him.
