On The Verge: 4 New Country Releases
As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.
1. "Ex Appeal" by Lauren Weintraub
Weintraub's instagram bio says "half-pint dynamite," and this new release proves why. She details all the ways that a guy can seem so irresistible. Instead of saying it's his sex appeal, she declares the feeling as "ex" appeal, which is quite clever.
2. Somewhere Between The Secret and The Truth by Wade Bowen
This full-length project feels worth the wait from Bowen. The singer-songwriter wears his heart on his sleeve with each track. The single "Everything Has Your Memory" stands out with its heart-aching lyrics. With Bowen's soothing voice, there is something for everyone on this project.
3. "Don't Say I Didn't Warn You" by Morgan Johnston
Johnston delivers yet another song bound to be stuck in your head. The melody is captivating and brings out the best of her vocal ability. The song is about embracing a girl's uniqueness, and hoping the guy appreciates the candor. "You say that you like it, can I get that in writing?"
4. Getcha Some by Frank Ray
This new EP from Ray showcases his own spin on country music. By incorporating pop and latin elements, every song is authentic to his artistry. A lot of the songs are a perfect way to get in the feel-good spirit. "Late" is the newly released single, and it is surely going to be a hit on the radio.
