On The Verge: 5 New Country Releases

As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.

1. "Truth Is" by Lily Rose

Rose proves to be as authentic as ever as this new release conjures so many emotions. She sings about grappling with moving on from a broken heart. When you want to believe you can move on, only to be faced with lingering feelings. Rose has a unique sound that makes even songs about heartache feel fresh and new.

2. "Moment" by Halle Kearns

Kearns delivers an impressive track about truly living in the moment. In life, it can be easy to forget about what we have right in front of us. Kearns effortlessly sings about enjoying every second, and not taking anything for granted. Her voice sounds soft and poetic as her message comes across in the most beautiful way possible.

3. "Bible Belt" by Chris Housman

"Heavy subject. Light song," is how Housman described it on Instagram. This song truly incorporates the religious themes that are rooted in country music. The track manages to have high-energy tones as Housman cruises through the song. He brings up the judgmental attributes some people carry through life, while not being accusatory. It's a story for the ages.

4. "it's been a year" by Ashley Cooke

As the title suggests, Cooke has had a wild 2022. The lyrics are introspective as she looks back on the highs and lows this year has brought. Coke is always one to give a candid look into her life through her music, and this track is no exception. This song also builds anticipation for what is to come next year.

5. "Grounded" by Brooke Moriber

Moriber's signature soulful voice guides fans through her new song. Here, she sings about appreciating having two feet firmly on the ground. That idea also applies to staying grounded in the figurative sense. This track is meant to have people appreciating the things they have in life.
