On The Verge: 5 New Country Releases

As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.


1. "The Jealous Kind" by Charles Wesley Godwin

Godwin is making a name for himself as an artist who thrives off of authenticity and lyricism. His new song incorporates all of that. The track is about giving into jealous tendencies that one didn't realize they had. There is a flare of 2000s rock in his style of country music that his fans of gravitated to, and it has the ability to draw in fans from other genres as well.


2. "Living Water" by Anne Wilson

Wilson's new release is a surefire way to feel a higher power. The song is infused of gospel and country, and has the ability to make people stop and reflect. Her voice soars to the heart of the 'searchers' she calls out to. The steady tempo and the gospel choir in the chorus all act in harmony for the song's message about believing in something bigger than yourself.


3. "Man Of The House" by Corey Kent

Kent had been teasing this song for some time, so now fans can rejoice there is now a studio version. According to the singer, this is "the most therapeutic and heartfelt song of my career." The track is about when a man feels the responsibility of being there for his family. The self-doubt and worry for his loved one's is at the heart of this song. In all honesty, this is the kind of music that reminds people why truth lies within county music.


4. "All Or Nothing" by Caylee Hammack

Hammack carries the inclusion of pop-country quite nicely on this song. A dynamic drum beat starts the track which can hook anyone in. Her voice lies on the unique side as it is warm yet powering. She sings about a passionate connection between two people. The style of the song feels very different from a lot of her peers, and that might be exactly how Hammack likes it.


5. "Lemonade" by Sarah Allison Turner

It seems every song Turner releases, she perfectly embodies the singer-songwriter sound. It's as if every track is a piece of her heart. This new release is about embracing how messy life can be. She takes the old saying, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade." This song has an empowering message about being in charge of what comes next.
