On The Verge: 5 New Country Releases

As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.

1. "25 To Life" by Griffen Palmer

Palmer continues to prove he is an artist with unlimited potential. His style of music is as easy to listen to as his voice is to hear. Love songs seem to be his strong suit. As the music video helps showcase, this song puts young love on full display. Even young love can lead to deeper notions of wanting it to last a lifetime. This is certainly a track that can appeal to many country fans.

2. "Ours" by Megan Patrick

Patrick's sound and look are quite a dynamic combo. She has the ability to embrace rock elements in her country themes that put her in a league of her own. This song in particular would sound like a fit for radio. Patrick sings about what it feels like to see an ex move on with someone else. The lyrics can put someone right at the bar she sings about. Having to see someone you once loved happy with another person would be enough to drive anyone insane.

3. Starless by Tony Evans Jr.

This EP is a cut above the rest. Evans Jr.'s voice is especially outstanding on every track, given his deep vibrato. He sings about everything from heartbreak to forgotten dreams. The amount of heart and soul behind his words is enough to remind people why they gravitate towards country music. "If You're Ever In Georgia" stands out due to its longing and nostalgic quality.

4. "Danced with the Devil" by Ashland Craft

This song is undeniably country. From singing about dive bars and love at first sight, from the acoustic guitar riffs, this track is something special. There is a mysterious aspect to the song that creates a massive amount of intrigue. Craft also lends her unique vocal tone to the lyrics of this track.

5. "Me Or My Hometown" by Leah Marie Mason

Mason delivers a song about the art of looking back. She sings about reflecting upon where one grew up, and whether she or it has changed. It's a song full of self discovery with a message that plenty of fans can relate to. There is guilt as well as excitement when moving on from a hometown, and Mason finds a way to capture all of that.
