On The Verge: 5 New Country Releases
As every Friday passes, there are numerous songs that come out from independent country artists whose songs are well-written, beautiful, or simply fun. We’ve compiled a list of songs that were released last week by independent and rising acts that deserve much love and attention. Who knows, you might find your next favorite song.
1. "Girl Wonder" by Taylor Edwards
Edwards delivers a melodic track about the magic of falling in love. Meeting someone new can lead to a limitless amount of possibilities that "makes a girl wonder." The lyrics paired with her soft vocals make the song feel so effortless. The follow-up song to her single "8 Months" shows Edwards' youth and energy in the best possible way.
2. "Raise One Up" by Cort Carpenter
This song is as down-home country as can be. Carpenter sings about his appreciation for the average men and women that make the world go round. With a beat that is meant for listening down a backroad, this singer knows just what his audience is looking for.
3. "Fireworks" by Gray Robinson
Robinson could not have picked a better time for this song than the holiday weekend. "Fireworks" tells the story of a young love that burned too bright to go the distance. By likening that feeling to a firework, there is an instant understanding of what she is singing about. Robinson's easy-going vocal tone can strike anyone with one listen.
4. "Looking Back" by Patrick Murphy
This track sounds like it could pass on a Nicholas Sparks movie soundtrack. It is reflective and evokes the feeling of missing what someone once had. Even when not all of those memories are positive, they all add up to a full life. Murphy's tender voice does this song justice with its sweet notes and lyrics.
5. "See You Tonight" by Mark Burke
Burke's deep voice is emotion-packed as he sings every line. The song is about wanting to be next to someone no matter what it takes. There is longing as well as excitement that comes across. By the time the chorus comes through, the melody is destined to be stuck in anyone's head.
