Songs I Grew Up On with Karley Scott Collins
Karley Scott Collins is on track to make quite a name for herself in country music. Collins has been songwriting since she was 12, and sharing her truth continues to be a pillar of her career. A publishing deal sparked her 2019 move to Nashville, which brought new collaborators like Liz Rose, producer Brock Berryhill, Nathan Chapman, and Brett James into her world. With her latest single "Petty In The 80s" out now, Collins is introducing herself to plenty of more fans. Collins gave us the three songs she grew up loving, and maybe they are your favorites too.
1. "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses
Collins' dad is the reason she grew up loving this iconic rock band. "When he would drive me to school, he would play a lot of their music in the car," shares the singer. Collins and her dad eventually got to hear this song played live, and it is one of her favorite memories.
2. "Breakdown" by Tom Petty
"I've loved Tom Petty for as long as I can remember. His hometown is actually about 30 minutes from my hometown," Collins notes. She also went on to share how much she admires the late singer and that she hopes her music will also carry the same impact on her fans.
3. "Always On My Mind" by Willie Nelson
Collins explained that her Nana was the one who got her to like classic country music. "She was the person who bought me my first Willie Nelson record, and we would always dance in the kitchen together to country music," says Collins. It's clear this song holds a dear place in her heart.
