Tenille Arts feat. Matt Stell “Over You Is You” Song Review
Tenille Arts and Matt Stell released their new song “Over You Is You” on Friday, August 13. The rising stars teamed up for a collaboration that’s sure to make an impact on radio. Arts announced her third album Girl To Girl will be available in October, so this single can give fans a taste of what is to come. Arts is also spending her summer and fall as an opener for Lady A on the What A Song Can Do Tour.
Arts is still riding high from the success of “Somebody Like That.” The song reached #1 and marked the first time on country radio that a song written, produced, and performed by all females landed at the top spot. Her featured collaborator on “Over You Is You” has also found success. Stell made his debut with #1 hit “Prayed For You” and has followed up with “Everywhere But On” and “That Ain’t Me No More.”
“Over You Is You” is about trying to move past an old love, but not being very good at it. A timeless message about heartbreak at the core of many country songs. The opening part of the song is Arts setting the scene of a nigh that is supposed to go the way she wants. Arts realizes getting over someone is harder than it looks. “This ain’t working like I want it to, how the hell do I get over you?”
The song builds into a rock-country sound in time for the chorus. This is where Arts and Stell’s voices meet up, and the harmony is electric. “Over you is your baby come over, I need you, I miss my sheets on your body, over you is your don’t stop kiss, when it hits, and it gets me like nobody’s got me.” The entire song is full of catchy hooks that can resonate with every complicated heart.
