Top Songs Written by Liz Rose
Elisabeth Wagner, also known professionally as Liz Rose, is a Grammy-Award winning American country music songwriter. In her career, she has written for talented artists such as Taylor Swift, LeeAnn Womack, Alison Krauss, Blake Shelton, Bonnie Raitt, Tim McGraw, and Gary Allan. Rose was also a winner of SESAC’s Songwriter of the Year award in 2007. Here are five of Rose’s top songs that she has written.
1. “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift
"All Too Well” was originally released on Swift’s 2012 album Red, but the highly-anticipated 10-minute version was released in 2021. The song has been a hit amongst fans, particularly because of the supposed association between the lyrics and a former lover of Swift. Rose has co-written many of Swift’s hits, including “You Belong with Me,” “Teardrops on My Guitar,” and “White Horse,” with Swift winning Grammy awards for the latter two. To date, “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” is the longest Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 Hit and is also Swift’s 9th Hot Country Songs No. 1.
2. “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town
“Girl Crush” was released in 2014 on Little Big Town’s sixth album Painkiller. Written by Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Rose, informally known as “The Love Junkies,” this sobering song details the pain in wanting someone that one cannot have. It won a Grammy for Best Country Song and the Country Music Association Award for single of the year and for song of the year in 2015.
3. “Cry Pretty” by Carrie Underwood
“Cry Pretty” was a single from Underwood’s sixth album by the same name, which was released in 2018. Written by Underwood, Rose, Lindsey, McKenna, “Cry Pretty” is an emotional and powerful tune that any listener can relate to. It ranked number one on Billboard’s list of The 20 Best Country Songs of 2018 and was Underwood’s first ever No.1 hit on the Digital Songs chart.
4. “It All Comes Out in the Wash” by Miranda Lambert
“It All Comes Out in the Wash” was the lead single released on Lambert’s 2019 album Wild Card. Another hit written by The Love Junkies and Lambert, this energetic piece reminds listeners that no matter what happens in life, it will all be okay in the end. It was nominated for “Best Country Song” at the 62nd Grammy Awards.
5. “Crazy Girl” by Eli Young Band
“Crazy Girl” was released on the 2012 album Life at Best and was the fifth single that Eli Young Band had ever released. Lee Brice and Rose co-wrote this love song. In 2012, “Crazy Girl” won Song of the Year at the ACM and was No. 1 on Billboard’s US Hot Country Songs chart.
