Travis Denning “Dirt Road Down” EP Review
Travis Denning released his sophomore EP titled Dirt Road Down on Friday, August 6. Denning, who had success with his 2020 #1 hit “After A Few,” is hoping to give fans more of who he is an artist. “My biggest thing is I hope they get a piece of me they were expecting,” he says. “And I hope they get a piece of me that they weren’t too.”
2020 proved to be a challenging year for most of us, including Denning. He was gearing up to go out on the road with Sam Hunt when COVID-19 brought everything to a halt. Going back home to Georgia allowed the songwriter time to reflect, as well as write new music. Denning wrote over 100 songs as he delved deeper into creating his sound. Now, He is ready to share with fans what he has been working on.
“Dirt Road Down” features two songs that were previously released. “ABBY” became a favorite for many and is one of Denning’s most streamed songs. “Jack And Coke” was recently released and is a fresh take on a childhood tale. Fans have loved jamming out to that one already.
The opening track, “Call It Country,” is an electric country-rock anthem. This “hell-raising” sound has become a signature for Denning. He delivers the energy of a live performance in this song. Another song on this EP made for a live crowd is “Dirt Road Down.” The title track serves to tell more of Denning’s story. “It’s kind of cheesy, but to me Dirt Road Down makes me feel like we’ve gone a little further down the path of who I am – which I like to think is a dirt road, for sure.”
