Undiscovered: Five Dierks Bentley Songs We Think You’ll Love

Celebrated country music superstar Dierks Bentley was born on this day in 1975 in Phoenix, Arizona. Bentley went on to move to Nashville where he signed with Capitol Nashville in 2003 and released his self-titled debut album. That record, as well as the following 2005 album Modern Day Drifter, are certified platinum while his 2006 album Long Trip Alone is certified gold.

His studio albums have accounted for 25 singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, with 17 reaching number one. Despite his many albums and successes, you may have missed a few of these early gems that we know you’ll love.

1. “Forget About You,” Dierks Bentley (2003)

“Yeah, cause I’ve lost weight and I’ve lost hair and I don’t intend to ever go back there. Drinkin’ and a-thinkin’ ’bout a love that just wasn’t true. There’s a good chance I’ll end up insane without enough sense to come in from the rain. My mind might be the last thing you make me lose, but I’ll forget about you.”

2. “Good Things Happen,” Modern Day Drifter (2005)

“The world is cold but I don’t care when you have flowers in your hair. I see color and I hear sound and good things happen when you’re around. I work hard for not much pay so I can know you’ll be okay. ‘Cause I need to live where love abounds and good things happen when you’re around.”

3. “Soon As You Can,” Long Trip Alone (2006)

“’Cause when a man wants to be with a woman, there ain’t no way of gettin’ there too fast. When you know who you wanna spend the rest of your life with, you wanna start the rest of your life as soon as you can.”

4. “Here She Comes,” Feel That Fire (2009)

“Ready or not when she pulls the trigger, I’m a loaded buckshot. One little kiss, it’s a match to the fuse. The last bell in school. A kick to the bull at the rodeo. Here she comes, here we go.”

5. “Love Grows Wild,” Up On The Ridge (2010)

“Wild things grow on less than a little and darling I know it’ll be you and me right down in the middle where love grows wild // You give me the sweetest love. You must be straight from above and you’re so good at loving me. You’re so fine, it’s plain to see. This was surely meant to be.”

Happy birthday, Dierks Bentley!
