Yola on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’

Singer-songwriter Yola performed her track “Dancing Away in Tears” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. The song is second on the tracklist on Yola’s most recent studio album Stand For Myself which was released in July of 2021. The LP earned Yola two GRAMMY nominations including a nod in the Best Americana Album category.

Yola’s performance of “Dancing Away in Tears” marked her first time ever appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show as she had previously appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in July to promote her album release.

When she took the stage at The Tonight Show she was illuminated by shades of purple that confidently correlate with the aesthetic of the Stand for Myself album cover art. What was most captivating was Yola’s husky and soulful voice that enchants listeners with every note. With every live performance and accolade, Yola proves she’s only getting started. Where the studio version is graced with an angelic instrumental with string sounds, the live performance had added synths and heavy emphasis on a single guitar part.
