You're Invited To The Nash News' 16th On The Verge Writer's Round

The Nash News will host its 16th writer's round with independent and up-and-coming country artists this coming Thursday, January 26th from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Nashville at Assembly Food Hall in the Fifth and Broad complex.


Artists performing include Alli Walker, Eliza Harrison Smith, Dan Harrison, Korie Burton, Rob Wolf, Emily Miller, Taylon Hope, Ava Hawkins, and Alexander Meingast. Get to know the artists and their music below.

Alli Walker

Alli Walker, named Spotify Canada’s Radar Artist on the Horizon in 2022, and nominated for Rising Star at the 2022 CMAOntario Awards, is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter who has made quite the mark on the Canadian country music scene. Walker has been finding her sound and carving her own path in the industry while breaking through borders gaining American fans alike with her most recent releases, particularly her TikTok hit ‘Red Wine or Whiskey’. Alli has been featured on Apple Music’s ‘The Ty Bentli Show’, the cover of Apple’s ‘Canada’s Country’ and Amazon Music’s ‘Breakthrough Country’ playlists, she boasts over 3 million streams, 15 million views, and has over 375K followers eagerly awaiting her sophomore album release in March 2023.


Eliza Harrison Smith

Eliza Harrison Smith is an indie-pop singer and songwriter based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Eliza wrote her first song at 15 and hasn’t stopped writing ever since. She moved to Nashville in 2019 and immediately started co-writing in the pop and country worlds. She was also given an honorable mention in NSAI’s 2020 Song Contest. She has most recently launched her artist project with the release of two singles, “August” and “Got Away With It”, with plans to release more music in 2023.


Dan Harrison

Dan Harrison is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. Growing up immersed in music of all kinds outside Philadelphia, he was drawn to country music and the sounds of the south while attending college at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. After graduating,

he made his way to Nashville in 2018.


Since moving to Music City, Dan has shared the stage with acts such as Mitchell Tenpenny and Steve Moakler, and earned cuts with artists like Adair's Run, Todd Cameron, Belles, Clayton Shay, Carson Beyer, and more. One of his cuts, the recent viral TikTok song "All Hat No Cowboy" by Belles, is currently at over 4 million views on TikTok. He was also awarded the 2021 ASCAP Jay Gorney Award for his song, “Friendly Fire," which highlights the mental health issues facing our military veterans.


Korie Burton

Korie Burton is a South Carolina native with three passions: music, football, and dogs! (Coffee is also a close fourth) As a graduate of the Middle Tennessee State University recording industry program, Korie spends most of her days drinking coffee and co-writing around Nashville. She writes a little in lots of genres, but her love is in country music! So sit back and relax, she can’t wait for you to hear her music (and probably a few stories about her dog too).


Rob Wolf

Rob Wolf is a rising Nashville artist originally from Livingston, Montana, home of the majestic Paradise Valley. Rob was first bitten by the music bug in school productions and really dug in deep when he found and fell in love with the guitar. Although he always thought he would be a pilot or pursue baseball, Rob’s love of music drove him to pursue a career in Nashville.


His debut single, “Home” was released on August 19, 2022, followed up by “Everything to Me” on October 14, 2022. Rob ended the year with one final single release, “For the Best,” on December 16, 2022.


Emily Miller

Emily Miller is a multi-talented country singer from West Chester, Ohio. Her debut release “Avaline” has exceeded 62K organic spins on Spotify and follow-up of “Dear Lonely” has passed 68.5K streams. “Prince Charming,” written by Emily Miller, was released in February 2019 and is the theme for the upcoming TV show Renee’s Bridal Takeover. Her next single, “Take the Trash Out” dropped in March 2021, followed by a supporting music video later in the year. Emily’s debut EP, They Say, was released in February 2022. Her dynamic voice and guitar have entertained audiences in several states and in large venues including the Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Music City Center, Gatlinburg Craftsman Fair, charity events like Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital, College sporting events, and many venues across the South and Midwest. Her active engagement with the audience allows everyone to feel connected with her easygoing personality, catchy smile, and quick wit. Emily has worked with some of the best in the business, including Grammy Award winner Tammy Rogers King of The Steeldrivers, and other industry professionals throughout Nashville, exposing her to audiences she never dreamed of. Playing over 200 shows a year, Emily shows no signs of slowing down. You never know where you’re going to find her next!


Taylon Hope

Taylon Hope is a singer, songwriter, and musician from West Jefferson, NC, located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and now makes her home in Music City, Nashville, TN. Named one of 20 to Watch in 2020 by Women of Country and hailed as “Very promising” by MusicRow music critic Robert K Oermann. She began singing at the young age of four years old and music has been her passion ever since. She loves singing and performing and making a difference to others through her music. Her musical influences include Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, among others. Taylon has a love for both traditional and modern Country Music and has a great appreciation for all kinds of music. Taylon Hope values her roots and believes in being who you are and country is who she is! She has had the opportunity to open shows for Shenandoah, T. Graham Brown, Suzy Bogguss, Adam Crabb, and recently in Kansas she opened up for Ned LeDoux, son of Chris LeDoux. She has performed at the legendary Bluebird Cafe, The Listening Room, Schermerhorn Symphony Center, The Texas Troubadour Theatre, The Nashville Palace, John A's, and Puckett's, all in Nashville, TN.


Ava Hawkins

Ava Hawkins is a 17-year-old alternative singer/songwriter from Louisville, Kentucky. She has been performing since she was 6 years old in musicals and plays but started writing music in 2020. She is releasing her debut EP titled WITHDRAWN on January 13th, 2023. Ava writes and produces her music entirely on her own in her bedroom in Louisville. After high school, she hopes to study Music Business and Music Production at Middle Tennessee State University.


Alexander Meingast

Alex Meingast is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter who hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Originally a jazz guitarist, Alex started writing songs in college, inspired by the likes of the Beatles, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift. He has lived in Nashville for two years, writing, singing, and recording to his heart’s content.
