You're Invited to The Nash News' 24th On The Verge Writer's Round

The Nash News will host its 24th writer's round with independent and up-and-coming country artists this Thursday, April 27th from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Nashville at Assembly Food Hall in the Fifth and Broad complex.

Artists performing include Kate Cameron, Kinslee Melhorn, Korie Burton, Liz Jane, Clifford Ray, Anna McElroy, Liam Wall, Lauren Raybon, and Chris Turner. Get to know the artists and their music below.

Kate Cameron

Equal parts soul, grit, and grace, Kate Cameron's distinct and unique vocal sound lands somewhere between her Boston roots and her Nashville idols. At times you hear her mirroring soul and rock vocalists such as Susan Tedeschi or Aerosmith yet she also has the singer-songwriter sensibilities of those like Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert. In 2015 Kate graduated from Berklee College of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music focused in Songwriting and where she also got the opportunity to sing for and honor Doug Morris, a top record executive who previously served as CEO of the Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment. Her time at Berklee allowed her to refine her musical chops before taking on Music City. Kate has been working in the Nashville music scene ever since relocating by releasing self-written and co-produced artist projects.

Kinslee Melhorn

Kinslee Melhorn is a country singer/songwriter born and raised in East Tennessee. Influenced by Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and The Chicks, Kinslee has been writing and releasing her own music since 2013. You can now find her playing originals around Nashville at her favorite writer's rounds or in the studio recording new material.

Korie Burton

Korie Burton is a South Carolina native with three passions: music, football, and dogs! (Coffee is also a close fourth) As a graduate of the Middle Tennessee State University recording industry program, Korie spends most of her days drinking coffee and co-writing around Nashville. She writes a little in lots of genres, but her love is in country music! So sit back and relax, she can’t wait for you to hear her music (and probably a few stories about her dog too).

Liz Jane

Starting guitar at the age of 12, Liz Jane began developing her skills and studying guitar with Jim Bachety, a successful smooth jazz musician from New York, and immediately started playing in church in Beaufort, South Carolina. At 18 she was selected to play in a group of Jim’s top students, known as the smooth jazz band Horizon. After years of playing in small bars, clubs, and theaters around the Lowcountry and recording an album as Horizon's lead vocal and rhythm guitar player, Liz Jane is now pursuing her own music as a solo artist.

Pulling on her influences of jazz alongside her love of acoustic folk and harmonies, Liz has released her first project entitled A Thrill of Hope, an album of Christmas music. In addition, she is currently experimenting with different sounds and melodies as she records her debut collection of original songs.

Clifford Ray

Anna McElroy

Anna McElroy is a Country singer/songwriter, born and raised in Mobile, AL. She has had a passionate love for music since she was 4 years old. She was a member of her church’s choir for the majority of her life and has been performing live gigs since 2016. In October 2018, Anna attended the Pensacola Songwriters Fest and had the privilege of meeting two of Nashville’s most prominent songwriters, Keith and Adrienne Follese. She has since moved to Nashville and continues to work under Keith and Adrienne Follese. She has just completed filming the first season of the new television series, Nashville's Next Best of 3, which is a musical competition where she is a judge and performs on the show as well.

Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to open for Country music artists such as Lee Ann Womack, Joe Diffie, Jon Langston, and Clay Walker. Anna McElroy continuously has big doors opening for her and her career in Country music.

Liam Wall

Liam Wall is an indie pop artist from Los Angeles, California. He picked up everything and moved to Nashville in 2022 and has been performing and writing as much as possible since living in Music City. Liam is excited to show people the new music he has been working on that is set to release in 2023.

Lauren Raybon

Alabama Native, Lauren Raybon, has been passionate about music & honing her guitar/vocal skills since the age of 13. Her love for the stage is paired with her deep desire to bring joy to others through her original songs. Lauren released her debut single, "Wildcard," in 2021 where it charted on the iTunes Country charts. Her current singles, "Love at First Heartbeat" and "Wildcard" are out now on all music platforms.

Chris Turner

Chris Turner was born and raised in Ninety Six, SC. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Turner decided to move to Nashville and pursue a career in music. “Music has always been a huge part of my life, but it was not until I joined the military and picked up my first guitar, did I truly find music. There’s no better therapy in the world than a six-string and a legal pad”.

Chris has toured throughout the US opening for some of the biggest acts in Country Music. He has recorded three full-length EPs and charted at number 16 with his single “If you drink." Chris also continues to use his platform to raise awareness and promote skill sets to help veterans overcome PTSD/Moral Injury. Turner is set to release his latest EP in early 2023 titled “Rough”. The first single released “All in the Same Boat” currently has over 75k streams and climbing.
