You're Invited to The Nash News' 31st On The Verge Writer's Round

The Nash News will host its 31st writer's round with independent and up-and-coming artists this Thursday, July 13th from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Nashville at Assembly Food Hall in the Fifth and Broad complex.

Artists performing include Alisha Pace, Corrina Bridget, Sarah Gargano, Allison Asarch, Sammi Rae, Ava Claire, Emily Roth, Alex Allegra, and Sammy Kay. Get to know the artists and their music below.

Alisha Pace

Alisha Pace is a passionate spark-plug in the country music realm. Although her mother claims she's been singing since she was in a crib, she started performing publicly at age 8 and in Nashville at age 21. Currently, Alisha has made Nashville her permanent home, with the goal of being able to entertain and share her music on a broadened scale. Alisha’s favorite quote is, “There are no such things as strangers. Just friends I haven’t met yet.” So go meet her! She will love ya!

Corrina Bridget

Corrina Bridget is an up-and-coming artist that got her sound from studying jazz and falling in love with blue and rock. Originally from southern Vermont and moved to Nashville 3 years ago. She loves going to the park with her pup Winnie and you can find her on Apple Music and Spotify!

Sarah Gargano

Sarah Gargano is a 25-year-old singer/songwriter born and raised in NYC. Sarah has been writing since she was fifteen & released her first EP in 2018. American Songwriter quoted Sarah as having “highly melodic acoustic-based songs consistently feature insightful and introspective lyrics that often tackle unusual subjects.”

A travel fanatic, Sarah opened for Jeffrey Lewis in Huddersfield, England & continues to play gigs in many different cities. She has a degree in creative writing and sociology and outside of her music career, Sarah enjoys frolicking in flower fields, crying over fictional characters, arts-n-crafting, taking pictures, antique hunting, journaling, and eating cookie dough.

Allison Asarch

Growing up in Houston, Texas, Allison Asarch discovered her love for music at a young age. In September 2020, she released her first single called Taylor Made and that same month, she appeared on the Netflix Original show “Sing On!” where she took first place and won over $42,000. Her debut album entitled “Texas to Tennessee” was released on February 11, 2022, and is now available on all streaming platforms. She is currently nominated for “Rising Star” at the Josie Music Awards, which will take place this October at the Grand Ole Opry.

Sammi Rae

Born and raised in Texas, Sammi Rae spent much of her life in the small town of Normangee, which is best known for selling tractors. A self-described "inside person," Sammi preferred playing music in her childhood bedroom and immersing herself in the world of the recording arts to being outside, sweating in the hot Texas sun. By age 17, she taught herself to play piano, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, and French horn. Her love for sound engineering was discovered her senior year of high school, and she attended college for recording arts for 2 years. As a result, she is very hands-on in the recording process of all her songs and enjoys both recording and writing in different genres.

Sammi's first single, "Supernova," is an EDM/POP track released in March 2021 that was originally recorded for a school project, but after sending the session to her good friend Drew Williams, the track was turned into what Williams and Rae describe as the "sad, boppy" anthem that it is today. Her debut single was followed up by her first-ever country song, "Three Rivers," in December 2021. Sammi released "Good Time Calls" as the lead single off her EP Southern Belle Wannabe back in April of 2022. Southern Belle Wannabe was released in its entirety in October 2022.

Ava Claire

Ava Claire has been charming audiences all over Nashville since age 11 with her mix of soulful pop original music. Counting Jade Bird, Ed Sheeran, the Beatles, Phoebe Bridgers, and Jason Isbell as some of her current musical influences, Ava Claire has a strong command of her voice and tells her stories with truth and grit.

She played her first gig at the famous Bobby's Idle Hour on Music Row in 6th grade. Since then, she has continued to grow as a songwriter and artist, gracing stages all over Nashville.

She has spent the last few years honing her craft on not only the violin and guitar but also the piano and ukulele. She has written dozens of original songs and is committed to growing her body of work while strengthening her musicianship as a guitarist and vocalist. Ava Claire is an active member of the Nashville musical community serving on the Board for Tunes for Kidz, a local nonprofit that provides education and musical instruments to underserved communities in our area. She has said lending her time to teaching songwriting and guitar to these children has been a huge source of joy and growth as an artist and as a human. Her original music can be found on all streaming platforms.

Emily Roth

Emily Roth is a singer/songwriter that has her own distinct style and sound but holds the heart of country close to her own in her words and rhythm. She brings a level of vulnerability to the front, which makes her music easily relatable. Her base is pure and deep which resonates with the history of country music’s past. Born and raised in Tennessee and the coast of North Carolina, she is small-town rooted, yet her sound flows as easy as the ocean breeze.

Alex Allegra

Alex Allegra sings her story, setting catchy hooks and clever lyrics to a pop-driven beat. Whether she’s putting a fresh spin on life experiences like love and heartbreak or sharing her own vulnerabilities and personal struggles with anxiety, her music relates and resonates.

Sammy Kay

Sammy Kay is a folk-pop singer/songwriter currently pursuing her music career in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a recent graduate from the Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University, where she studied songwriting with a minor in music business.

Kay is well-known in her home state of Indiana, where she has performed at numerous venues since the age of 11. She has opened for country star, Carly Pearce, and former lead singer of Boston, Fran Cosmo. She was also a finalist on the show “Indiana’s Got Talent” in 2016 and “Belmont’s Got Talent” in 2018.
